Job Title: Roofer Helper

R.F Lusa & Sons Sheetmetal Inc. seeks two (2) temporary, full-time Roofer Helpers to perform manual labor and provide general support to roofing crews throughout Hillsborough County, Polk County, Orange County, Pasco County, Pinellas County, and Lake counties in Florida. Duties include loading, unloading, carrying, and staging roofing materials, tools, and equipment; delivering materials to work areas; holding and positioning materials as directed; removing debris and discarded materials from job sites; cleaning and organizing work areas; maintaining ladders, tarps, and safety barriers; and performing other general labor tasks in support of roofing operations as assigned. Work is performed outdoors at multiple job sites within the area of intended employment and is physically demanding. All workers must be able to regularly lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing at least seventy-five (75) pounds. Workers must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders, and work at heights for extended periods in outdoor weather conditions.
No formal education is required. Applicants must have at least three (3) months of prior experience in basic commercial and residential roofing projects. Workers must be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English or Spanish, work efficiently as part of a team, and safely use tools and equipment after receiving employer-provided training.
Employment is expected to begin on October 01, 2026, and end on July 15, 2027. The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday with a rotating shift with varying times from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work hours and shifts may vary depending on weather conditions or business needs. Work on weekends and holidays may be required to accommodate scheduled events. Overtime may be offered when available but is not guaranteed.
Workers will be paid at a rate of $18.14 per hour, with overtime paid at $27.21 per hour for all hours worked over forty (40) in a single workweek. The offered wage equals or exceeds the highest of the prevailing wage or the applicable Federal, State, or local minimum wage and will be paid free and clear for the entire certified period. Wages are paid weekly by check or direct deposit, and the employer will make all deductions required by law. A single work week will be used to compute wages due.
The employer will provide on-the-job training for proper safety, assembly, and equipment handling techniques. All tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job will be provided at no cost to the worker.
The employer will provide daily transportation to and from the job sites at no cost to the worker. Transportation will depart from the designated pick-up location at main office in Lakeland, Florida. Workers are responsible for their own transportation to and from the designated dispatch location. Company vehicles are provided for work purposes only; personal use is permitted at the employer’s discretion and does not affect wages or employment status.
The employer will assist workers in finding suitable housing by referring them to local rental agencies and property owners. Workers are responsible for securing and paying for housing directly. The employer will reimburse workers in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees incurred as a condition of entry into the United States, including those required by the U.S. government. Passport fees are the worker’s responsibility and are not reimbursable.
If a worker completes fifty (50) percent of the employment period, the employer will reimburse the worker for reasonable transportation and subsistence costs from the place of recruitment to the place of employment. Upon completion of the employment period, or upon early termination for any reason other than voluntary abandonment or transfer to subsequent employment, the employer will pay the reasonable cost of return transportation and subsistence to the worker’s place of recruitment. Transportation reimbursement will be based on the most economical and reasonable common-carrier rate for the distance involved. Daily subsistence shall be at least $16.28 per day without receipts or up to $68.00 per day with receipts, consistent with 20 C.F.R. § 655.173.
Neither the employer nor its agents will seek or accept payment from any worker for recruitment, placement, or related fees. Workers must comply with all attendance, safety, and performance standards. Failure to meet these standards may result in disciplinary action, including termination for cause. A copy of this job order will be provided to H-2B workers in a language they understand, as necessary or reasonable.
