Project Manager – Heavy Civil Construction

Hulstein Construction is looking for an experienced, motivated Project Manager to join our growing team. If you enjoy taking ownership of projects, building strong relationships, solving problems, and seeing projects through from award to completion, we'd love to meet you.
Our Project Managers oversee heavy civil construction projects including site development, underground utilities, grading, concrete, and municipal work throughout South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa.
What You'll Do
- Manage multiple construction projects from start to finish.
- Review contracts, plans, specifications, and project requirements.
- Develop and maintain project schedules.
- Coordinate with superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, suppliers, and owners.
- Monitor project budgets, costs, production, and profitability.
- Prepare and track change orders, RFIs, submittals, and pay applications.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Attend project meetings and maintain strong communication with customers and project stakeholders.
- Assist with project planning, procurement, and material scheduling.
- Review daily reports, quantities, production, and job costs.
- Identify project risks and develop solutions before issues arise.
- Support field personnel with resources needed for successful project execution.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and closeout records.
- Promote Hulstein Construction's commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent heavy civil construction experience will be considered.
- 3+ years of project management experience preferred.
- Experience with grading, utilities, concrete, DOT, municipal, or heavy civil projects.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with construction management software is preferred (HeavyJob, Foundation, HCSS, or similar).
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to job sites.

Pay: $65,508.20 - $100,000.00 per year
