Overview
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking Auto Body Prepper to join our collision repair team. This role is responsible for preparing vehicles and parts for paint by sanding, masking, priming, and ensuring all surfaces are properly cleaned and ready for refinishing. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality work, works efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and understands the importance of proper preparation in delivering a high-quality finished repair.
Responsibilities
- Prepare repaired vehicles and parts for paint by sanding, feathering, masking, taping, and priming surfaces
- Clean and inspect panels to ensure surfaces are free of dirt, grease, imperfections, and contaminants before paint application
- Remove or mask trim, moldings, lights, glass, and other components as needed to protect the vehicle during the paint process
- Assist painters by staging vehicles, moving parts, and maintaining an organized paint/prep area
- Perform minor body filler finishing and block sanding as needed
- Mix and apply primer according to manufacturer and shop procedures
- Check repairs for quality and communicate any issues or imperfections before vehicles move to the paint stage
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper handling of tools, materials, and equipment
- Follow all shop, OEM, and safety procedures to ensure quality repairs and workplace safety
- Work closely with estimators, body technicians, and painters to help keep vehicles moving through production efficiently
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an auto body, collision, or paint prep environment preferred
- Knowledge of sanding, masking, priming, and surface preparation techniques
- Ability to use prep and sanding tools safely and effectively
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work in a fast-paced shop environment and meet production deadlines
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team
- Ability to stand for long periods, bend, lift, and perform physical work throughout the day
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Experience with collision repair shop workflow is a plus

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
