The Division Manager – Custodial & Landscaping Services provides leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for the County’s custodial, landscaping, pest control, and related facility support services across a large and diverse portfolio.
Reporting to the General Manager, this role is responsible for integrating service delivery, financial planning, contract management, and data-driven performance systems to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality services aligned with County priorities.

Special Salary Information:
This position is subject to the provisions of the Management Appraisal of Performance Plan (MAPP). Initial salary placement and subsequent salary adjustments will be made in accordance with MAPP guidelines and regulations.

Requirements to Qualify:

Five years of experience managing custodial and landscaping services for an organization with multiple operational units at the level of Section Manager, Custodial Services, ISD. The experience must include directing the budget, personnel, fiscal, and other administrative functions.
You must meet the above requirement(s) in order to be appointed to fill any vacancies related to this recruitment.
LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
PHYSICAL CLASS:
Physical Class 2 - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
Special Requirements Information:
Managing custodial and landscaping is defined as managed at the level of Section Manager, Custodial Services, ISD. Managed custodial and landscaping staff through subordinate supervisor(s). Measures staff performance and ensures accountability through performance evaluations and disciplinary actions. Plans, directs, coordinates, and oversees custodial cleaning and grounds-maintenance operations, including personnel, scheduling, budgets, equipment, safety compliance, service quality, and daily operational performance.
Desirable Qualifications / Weighted Parts:
Additional credit will be given to applicants that possess the following desirable qualifications in education and experience.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, facilities management, or a related field.
Master’s degree in business administration, public administration, facilities management, or a related field.
You must submit legible copies of each degree you would like considered for credit.
Management-Level Experience in the following areas:

Custodial work and landscaping in a large public sector or government organization.

Contract management.

Procurement.
-
Vendor performance oversight.
-
Implementing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), dashboards, and data-driven performance systems.

Developing cost recovery models, rate structures, or chargeback systems.

Working in a unionized environment.
-
Sustainability practices related to custodial and landscaping services.

This assessment type will evaluate the education and experience you list on a supplemental questionnaire and assign a score based on a standardized scoring system worth 100% of your total score. This part of the assessment is worth 100% of your total score and assesses: Desirable Qualifications.
Applicants must receive a passing score of 70% or higher on the assessment to be added to the Eligible List.
