ABOUT
Formed in 1928-29 as the first professional symphony orchestra in the Southwest, the TSO is the longest continuously performing professional arts organization in Arizona. The mission of the organization is to build and enrich community through the experience of live music of the highest quality. The TSO serves nearly a hundred thousand patrons annually, including 20,000 students, through concerts, educational programming, and outreach. More than 1,000 donors and stakeholders support the TSO’s work on stage, in schools, and in the community and this base of support is expected to grow as the organization approaches its centennial.
Under the artistic leadership of Music Director José Luis Gómez, celebrating his 10th Anniversary Season in 2026-27, the TSO’s vision is to reflect its many communities and bring them together through music.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Development Manager-Annual Campaign joins a high achieving fundraising team at an exciting time. Contributed revenue at the TSO has grown from $1.7M just several seasons ago to more than $3.1M this past season. This position is an opportunity for an early to mid-career professional to advance their skills and fundraising career as part of a team that cultivates, solicits, and stewards the commitment of a growing base of donors to the TSO.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Annual Campaign
- Manages and administers the process/timeline for the department’s multi-channel annual campaign, including direct mail appeals, monthly renewals, and digital and social campaigns, including copywriting, design, and list generation.
- Along with senior staff, helps grow the donor base and contributed revenue by achieving high retention, increased gifts, and meaningful new acquisitions.
- Participates in donor solicitation, with a special focus on donors up to $1,000 as assigned, while supporting the efforts of senior leadership and volunteer/board solicitors with donors $1,000 and above.
- Manages phone-a-thon efforts.
- Establishes overall strategy for annual giving day efforts such as Giving Tuesday.
- Coordinates development materials and communications for print, onsite, and online distribution including brochures, pamphlets, web content, e-blasts and other collateral.
- Serves as the department’s office manager, maintaining the department’s calendar and maintaining/ordering supplies.
- Participates in monthly Board Development Committee meetings with follow-up on key action items, serving as notetaker as needed.
- Assists and participates in development events and other projects as needed.
Database Management
- Effectively uses and leverages the TSO’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, DonorPerfect and related wealth screening software.
- Serves as the primary database manager entering all gifts and creating tracking reports to monitor the success of all mailings, solicitations, and campaigns.
- Provides the team and leadership with daily and weekly gift reports.
- Supports the department with its data needs, donor renewal and acquisition lists, and call/mailing lists on an ongoing basis.
Stewardship and Donor Recognition
- Quickly and efficiently acknowledges all gifts in accordance with IRS guidelines and maintains effective files.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with individual donors, volunteers, andcommunity stakeholders.
- Meets and interacts positively with donors.
- Fulfills donor benefits.
- Manages a process for board and volunteer card writing/thank you efforts.
- Manages commemorative and condolence cards to key stakeholders.
- Creates donor recognition lists and assures that donors are accurately recognized in Program Books, Annual Reports, and other appropriate materials.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate work experience
· 2-4 years prior experience in a fundraising or related position
· Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
· Demonstrated success managing and using a database
· Ability to collect, organize, and analyze data
· Strong oral and written communications skills
· Attention to detail and excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
· Ability to bring order to complex data and projects
· Positive attitude and team-oriented work style
· Ability to work independently and with a wide range of constituents, including community volunteers and stakeholders
· Commitment to outstanding customer service
Essential Functions:
o Able to lift up to 25 lbs
o Available to work nights and weekends, including concerts and events during the season
o Available to travel to performances and events throughout Pima County as needed
o Maintain an active driver’s license and vehicle insurance
PREFERABLE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Passion for Music, prior experience working in the arts is a plus.

Hours: Hourly 40 hours/week, including nights and weekends for concerts and events
Compensation: $47,500 - $52,500 based on experience and demonstrated fundraising success
