Kolehouse Strategies is a dynamic political consulting firm with a desire to help elect progressive candidates, pass important legislation, manage citizen initiatives, and develop its employees for the betterment of our communities. We specialize in running paid door to door canvass programs, volunteer management, signature collections, and membership involvement efforts. Kolehouse Strategies’ leadership team brings more than 25 years of political strategy experience and is constantly evolving with the tactics being used in today’s political climate.
Current Project:
We are currently partnering with organizations to help elect progressive candidates in this November's General Election. We will be focusing on districts in Michigan with competitive races and speaking with voters about candidate backgrounds, platforms, and why they are the best choice to serve the residents of Michigan. These candidates share important values such as protecting our democracy, fighting for the middle class, supporting women's reproductive rights, supporting LGBTQ+ rights, and improving our economy.
Job Description:
The Field Director position is responsible for building a team of paid door to door canvassers. The position will focus on the recruitment of 15 to 20 team members, extensive training on door to door canvassing technique, and reporting on your office's daily performance to management. This person must be motivated, hardworking, and eager to contribute to our goal of electing progressive candidates on November 3rd. This is a great opportunity to get involved and help make a difference in this year's election.
Responsibilities:
- Recruitment and training of 15 to 20 door to door canvassers.
- Track employees' hours worked, schedule, and administrative information.
- Issue and verify New Hire Paperwork including staff policies, tax forms and I9s.
- Perform daily logistics including building teams, assigning canvass locations, quality control measures, and reporting.
- Create and maintain a positive and goal driven workplace atmosphere.
- Run daily trainings in the office for existing staff and perform advanced trainings in the field.
- Utilize Kolehouse Strategies’ propitiatory systems and data trackers on a daily basis.
- Oversee the end of shift procedure including debriefing teams, confirming data collection, and preparing for the following day.
- Complete written and numerical reports on a nightly basis which will be provided to the Director of Operations.
Qualifications:
- At least (1) election cycle managing an electoral field program.
- Works well under pressure and can maintain the necessary hours needed to ensure tasks are completed and the canvass office reaches its goals.
- Must be accountable and have a history of excellent attendance on past campaigns and jobs.
- Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Sheets, and Google Drive.
- Valid Driver’s License and consistent access to a dependable vehicle.
- Must be based in Michigan. We are not currently offering relocation benefits.
Compensation:
- Salary starting at $1,300 per week.
- End of project bonus based on performance of your canvass office and the overall program.
- Reimbursement of 72.5 cents per mile driven on the job.
- Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance offered after 90 days of employment.
- Paid Sick Time.
