Responsibilities
- Supervise children during after school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Lead engaging activities including homework assistance, arts and crafts, outdoor games, and group projects
- Manage classroom behavior using positive discipline techniques and effective behavior management strategies
- Implement age-appropriate curriculum plans that support childhood development and learning goals
- Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding children’s progress and any concerns
- Ensure adherence to first aid protocols, including administering basic first aid or CPR when necessary
- Facilitate youth group activities that promote teamwork, leadership, and social skills
- Support special education needs by adapting activities to accommodate individual learning styles
- Uphold all safety standards by operating AED devices when required and following first aid procedures
- Foster a welcoming environment that encourages creativity, curiosity, and respectful interactions among children
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp, tutoring, or youth programs is highly preferred
- Knowledge of classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies
- Certification in CPR and First Aid (including AED operation) is required; willingness to obtain if not already certified
- Experience with special education or childhood development is a plus
- Ability to supervise children outdoors and indoors safely during various activities
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with parents, staff, and children
- Demonstrated team leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide young learners
- Previous experience in theater or arts-based activities is advantageous for creative programming
- Flexibility to work afternoons during the school year; outdoor work experience is beneficial for outdoor activity facilitation
