Overview
We are seeking skilled and experienced Lead Cook candidates to join the culinary team at SODEXO located within OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK. This leadership role involves overseeing food preparation and service in a fast-paced healthcare environment, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts, catering, and food safety, with the ability to lead kitchen operations efficiently and effectively. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
Hiring for the Following Schedules:
- FT - Catering; Available Between 5:00am-5:00pm Days/Wknds vary
- FT - Doctor's Lounge; 4:30am-2:30pm Days Vary EOW
Duties
- Lead and supervise food preparation activities for catering events, patient meals, and hospital staff dining services.
- Plan menus in collaboration with dietary and nutrition teams, ensuring compliance with dietary guidelines and patient needs.
- Prepare a variety of meals with attention to presentation, flavor, and nutritional value, utilizing advanced cooking techniques.
- Oversee food handling procedures to maintain safety standards and prevent contamination.
- Manage kitchen staff during shifts, delegating tasks and ensuring timely completion of meal service.
- Maintain inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
- Ensure all food service operations adhere to health regulations and company policies.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff on food safety practices, knife skills, meal preparation, and culinary techniques.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized kitchen environment conducive to efficient workflow.
Experience
- Prior experience in line cook or catering cook roles preferred.
- Proven background in menu planning, food preparation, and cooking within a healthcare or fine dining setting.
- Experience with food service operations in restaurants or catering environments is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and proper handling procedures.
- Demonstrated culinary expertise including knife skills and meal assembly.
- Familiarity with the food industry standards for quality control and customer service excellence.
- Leadership experience in a kitchen setting is advantageous for overseeing team activities effectively.
