Job Summary
Ameriwest Home Services is seeking an experienced Residential HVAC Service Technician to join our team in Riverside, CA.
We are looking for a skilled technician who can confidently diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential heating and air conditioning systems with minimal supervision.
This is not an entry-level position. A minimum of 3 years of residential HVAC service experience is required.
The ideal candidate has strong technical and diagnostic skills, takes pride in quality workmanship, communicates professionally with homeowners, and can independently manage service calls from diagnosis through completion.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot residential HVAC systems
- Perform HVAC repairs and component replacements
- Service air conditioners, gas furnaces, heat pumps, package units, and related residential HVAC equipment
- Perform electrical and mechanical diagnostics using multimeters, gauges, and other HVAC diagnostic tools
- Diagnose and repair electrical components, motors, capacitors, contactors, thermostats, controls, and other HVAC components
- Diagnose refrigerant-related issues and perform leak detection, evacuation, and proper refrigerant charging when required
- Perform preventive maintenance and complete system inspections
- Read wiring diagrams, schematics, manufacturer specifications, and technical documentation
- Identify system deficiencies and recommend appropriate repair options
- Clearly explain findings and recommendations to homeowners
- Complete approved repairs professionally and efficiently
- Verify proper system operation after completing repairs
- Maintain accurate job notes, photos, and service documentation
- Maintain a clean and professional company vehicle and work area
- Follow EPA requirements, manufacturer specifications, safety procedures, and company standards
- Deliver professional and respectful customer service on every call
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of residential HVAC service experience required
- Strong HVAC diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Strong knowledge of residential air conditioning, gas furnaces, heat pumps, and package units
- Strong understanding of HVAC electrical systems and controls
- Ability to diagnose and repair HVAC systems independently
- Experience using multimeters, gauges, and HVAC diagnostic equipment
- EPA 608 Certification required
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of residential HVAC field work
- Dependable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented
- Professional appearance and communication skills
- Strong customer service skills and ability to clearly explain repair recommendations to homeowners
Experience with Lennox equipment is a plus, but not required.
