Industrial Controls Technician
Tampa Maid Foods is seeking an experienced Industrial Controls Technician to support our manufacturing operations in Lakeland, FL. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving electrical and automated control systems throughout the facility.
The ideal candidate has strong industrial electrical troubleshooting experience, understands PLC-controlled equipment, and can work hands-on in a fast-paced production environment to help reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance
- Troubleshoot and repair 24VDC, 120VAC, 240VAC, and 480VAC electrical systems.
- Diagnose electrical failures and restore equipment safely and efficiently.
- Install, maintain, and repair motors, starters, relays, contactors, disconnects, and control panels.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
PLC & Controls Support
- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and automated production systems.
- Support and maintain PLC programs, including Allen Bradley and Siemens platforms.
- Diagnose issues involving HMIs, VFDs, sensors, encoders, servo systems, and safety circuits.
- Maintain PLC backups and related documentation.
Production Support
- Respond to equipment breakdowns during production.
- Support freezers, fryers, conveyors, packaging systems, and related production equipment.
- Work closely with Maintenance and Operations teams to minimize downtime.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in root cause investigations.
- Recommend reliability and automation improvements.
- Support capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
- Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work safely in an industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical degree in Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field.
- Allen Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix experience.
- FactoryTalk HMI experience.
- Siemens PLC experience.
- Food manufacturing experience.

What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who can think critically, troubleshoot under pressure, and take ownership of keeping production equipment running. This is not a desk-only controls role. The right person will be comfortable working directly on the floor, partnering with Maintenance and Operations, and solving real-time equipment issues in a manufacturing environment.
Schedule
Full-time position. Schedule may vary based on business needs, production coverage, and maintenance support requirements.
