DESCRIPTION: This position maintains all exterior areas of Borough buildings, all Parks and Recreation areas, Cemeteries and the Borough owned Parking garage and lots by performing mowing, trimming, mulching, edging, tree pruning, litter pickup, brush cleanup and other duties as assigned to provide a safe clean environment for our borough residents. The Parks Maintainer provides exceptional customer service and is expected to uphold the public interest and advance the vision set forth by the Borough and community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential functions may include the customary duties and responsibilities noted herein, however, the information below is not an exhaustive list of duties and instead serves as a representative sample of the expectations of the position.
- Perform general lawn maintenance tasks using tools and equipment such as tractors, commercial lawn mowers, push mowers, trimmers, and common landscaping hand tools.
- Pick up litter, empty trash receptacles, clean up miscellaneous brush/fallen tree limbs, remove dead trees or shrubs, edge beds and play/exercise areas, in order to provide a clean, safe outdoor environment in our parks and facilities.
- Overlay Safety Surfacing mulch on playgrounds and mulch flower beds around borough owned properties.
- Demonstrate appropriate care and respect when maintaining cemeteries; ensure proper placement of fallen headstones, flags, and other memorials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFYING CRITERIA:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must have possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.
- Must pass a criminal background and driver’s license check.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands described below are representative of those required for the position.
- Work is performed mainly outdoors, in all types of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, precipitation, and wind.
- Ability to use the body to move, carry, and handle objects or materials.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to move between worksites as required.
- Ability to safely operate machinery, power tools, motor vehicles, and/or heavy equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
Pay: $13.50 per hour
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
- Lawn care: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- Driver's License (Required)
