Position Summary
An exam proctor is responsible for distributing testing materials, strictly following exam instructions, and closely monitoring test-takers to ensure academic integrity and protocoal. They act as a calming presence, helping students manage time and addressing minor procedural issues while protecting the fairness of the assessment
Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Attend proctor training (time/date of training dependent on exam date, individual trainings can be arranged according to proctors’ schedules). Monitor exam security.

Proctor exams according to the official instructions including: distributing exams, reading instructions, monitoring students, collecting and counting exams, keeping exam materials secure until returning them to the SHS staff person responsible for the exam.

For digital exams, proctors will need to assist students in logging into the testing platform and monitoring student progress digitally.

Proctors may also be asked to monitor hallways and provide breaks to room proctors during testing.

Contact SHS staff coordinating the exam immediately for any concerns during the exam.

Training will be required and may occur in person or virtually.

Other responsibilities as assigned by the Standardized Test Coordinator.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills

Must be a high school graduate (or hold an equivalent qualification).

May not be employed part-time or full-time at any test preparation company.

May not participate in any coaching or tutoring activity that addresses the specific content of secure College Board tests.

Possess excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and absolute punctuality.

Proctors should be organized, comfortable speaking in front of students, comfortable with technology, and have strong attention to detail.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk quietly around the testing room for extended periods.

Ability to lift and carry testing material bins weighing up to 20 lbs.

Proctors can expect to hear from SPS staff throughout the year when there is an upcoming standardized test. Proctors can then provide their availability and will be scheduled accordingly.
