Duties
- Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance information
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature with precision and care
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort throughout their visit
- Support physicians with clinical tasks such as administering medications, performing EKGs, or assisting during minor procedures
- Maintain accurate documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, including ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures
- Conduct routine clinical tasks like specimen collection, wound dressing changes, and medication administration under supervision
- Support administrative functions such as scheduling appointments, answering the phone, managing portals, inbox, patient flow, orders, referrals, billing, and ensuring compliance with healthcare protocols
Experience
- Prior experience working in outpatient clinics is highly desirable
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ICD coding enhances your ability to provide effective patient support
- Experience with EKGs, phlebotomy, intramuscular injections, outpatient procedures (wound care, assistance with pap smears, etc), lab specimen collection and processing is helpful; we will provide training in these tasks on the job
- Hands-on experience with billing, prior authorization, and eligibility checks is a huge bonus, but not required
- Demonstrated ability to operate EHR systems efficiently while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications related to emergency medicine or medical-surgical care are beneficial
