Join our dynamic team as the Girls 8th Grade Volleyball Assistant Coach and inspire young athletes to develop their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship! As an integral part of our coaching staff, you will help create a positive, energetic environment that encourages growth both on and off the court.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and executing practice sessions focused on volleyball techniques, game strategies, and team drills
- Support players in developing fundamental skills such as serving, passing, setting, hitting, and blocking through sports-specific training instruction
- Help oversee team warm-ups, cool-downs, and conditioning exercises to promote safety and performance
- Foster a positive team culture by encouraging good sportsmanship, teamwork, and respectful communication among players
- Contribute to game-day preparations including setting up equipment, reviewing game plans, and providing encouragement during matches
- Monitor player behavior on and off the court, applying effective behavior management techniques to maintain a focused environment
- Communicate regularly with players’ families regarding team updates, schedules, and individual progress
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children or adolescents in a coaching or teaching capacity
- Knowledge of volleyball rules, techniques, and game strategies; previous sports coaching experience preferred
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and staff
- First aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain prior to start date; AED operation knowledge is a plus
- Ability to manage behavior effectively while fostering a fun and inclusive environment
