You’ll work on-site, collaborating with a supportive group of professionals and directly influencing the learning journeys of 15 students, including eight braille learners.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or eligibility for certification by the start date
- Experience designing and implementing instructional and mobility adaptations for visually impaired students
- Knowledge of braille instruction and assistive technology for low-vision and blind students
- Strong collaborative skills to liaise across multidisciplinary educational teams
- Commitment to individualized teaching with adaptability for diverse learning needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction in braille, assistive technology, and adaptive daily living skills
- Assess student abilities and create tailored educational programs and accommodations
- Consult with classroom teachers and staff to foster accessible learning environments
- Provide ongoing support to students, families, and school personnel regarding visual impairment resources
- Monitor and document progress, participating in IEP meetings and compliance reporting
