Tucked in the hills of Downtown Los Gatos lies La Rinconada Country Club, a private 18-hole club. Located in the heart of Los Gatos, La Rinconada is one of the most beautiful properties in the Santa Clara Valley. The Club overlooks the valley from the western foothills to the Santa Cruz Mountains. We are seeking a dedicated greenskeeper to join our crew and shape the future of our club.
We are looking for careful greenskeepers that respect their equipment and know how to work in an efficient yet safe manner. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to make a change and grow within the industry.
Position Summary
The Groundskeeper performs a wide variety of golf course maintenance duties to help provide outstanding playing conditions for members and guests. Previous golf course experience is preferred but not required—we are willing to train motivated individuals with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist with daily golf course setup, including changing cups, setting tee markers, and preparing the course for play.
- Mowing of various playing surfaces such as greens, tees, fairways, roughs, approaches, and other turf areas.
- Rake and maintain sand bunkers.
- Operate mowers, utility vehicles, string trimmers, blowers, and other golf course equipment safely.
- Assist with irrigation system repairs, adjustments, and hand watering.
- Perform landscaping duties including edging, trimming, pruning, planting, and weed control.
- Repair divots, ball marks, and other turf damage.
- Assist with fertilizer, topdressing, aerification, overseeding, and other cultural practices.
- Haul materials and remove debris using utility vehicles.
- Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous golf course, landscape, agriculture, or outdoor maintenance experience is preferred but not required.
- Valid California driver's license preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
Schedule
- Early morning start times
- Monday through Friday
- Alternating weekend schedule, (rotates throughout crew members)
- Overtime available during tournaments and seasonal maintenance
