Protective Security Officer (FPS) - Sterling
MTAC is actively hiring experienced security professionals for various openings in Sterling, VA and surrounding areas. Compensation for this position is $29.55/hour.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (will vary depending on individual contract) may include

Access control

Providing escorts
-
Facility patrols
-
Detaining individuals

Assisting employees and visitors
-
Responding to alarms
-
Securing the facility
-
Report writing
-
Responding to emergencies, some of which may be life threatening

Adherence to all applicable rules and regulations

Perform duties in a professional manner

Maintain situational awareness

Basic computer skills
Working Conditions and Physical/Mental Demands

May be exposed to stressful situations, such as challenging individuals who are in or approaching an unauthorized area

Stand or walk constantly (for up to an entire shift) on various surfaces (tile, concrete, carpet)
-
Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift, run as needed
-
Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties
-
Frequent moving and/or lifting
Minimum Qualifications
-
United States citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or who possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard)

Must have a minimum of two years of armed security experience, or one year of law enforcement experience in a full-duty status with a full-service police department in a municipality, state, or federal law enforcement department within the US, and have resigned or retired in good standing, OR a minimum of two years of honorable service as a member of any US Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard) component

Minimum of High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) from an accredited institution of higher learning, or as identified on DD Form 214.

Must fluently speak, read, comprehend English, and be able to compose written reports in English.

Must be at least 21 years of age

Valid Driver’s License and Social Security Card

Either Virginia or DC Security License with "Armed" endorsement
-
Pass drug screening and background investigation
-
A reasonable level of physical fitness
-
Knowledge of, or ability to learn security operations and procedures
-
Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances
-
Ability to adapt to changes in the environment and organization
-
Must currently hold FPS (Federal Protective Service) credentials
Training Requirements
-
FPS 36-Hour or 64-Hour Basic Training
-
NWDTP 16 Hour Exhibit
-
DHS 8 Hour Orientation
-
FPS Initial Weapons Training
-
Baton and OC Spray Certification
-
36-Hour Basic Training Refresher (if Initial Basic Training is 3+ years old)

First Aid/CPR/AED certifications - by American Red Cross or American Heart Association ONLY.
Additionally, candidate must have any certifications that are mandated according to the state/jurisdiction in which they will be working.
