- Shift: Monday to Friday
- Seasonal Position – No Experience Needed
Join our summer camp team as a Kitchen Assistant/Wait Staff member and help create a fun, positive dining experience for campers and staff. No experience is required — just bring a great attitude, a willingness to learn, and a desire to be part of a supportive, energetic community.
- Assists cooks with chopping, portioning, mixing, and preparing ingredients according to daily menus and camp dietary guidelines.
- Helps prepare large‑batch meals for campers and staff, ensuring food is cooked, assembled, and served on schedule.
- Cleans kitchen surfaces, equipment, floors, and storage areas to meet health and safety requirements.
- Helps receive, unpack, rotate, and store food deliveries following FIFO and camp storage protocols.
- Safely uses kitchen tools and appliances such as ovens, mixers, slicers, and warmers.
- Disposes of trash, compost, and recyclables and maintains cleanliness of waste areas.
- Follows food‑allergy procedures, cross‑contamination rules, and camp safety policies.
- Works closely with cooks, supervisors, and dining staff to ensure smooth meal service.
- Assists with cookouts, theme nights, outdoor meals, and other camp events as needed.
- Prepares the dining hall before meals by setting tables, arranging serving stations, and ensuring supplies are stocked.
- Serves food to campers and staff, replenishes buffet lines, and ensures meal service runs efficiently.
- Helps younger campers carry trays, find seating, and navigate meal options safely.
- Clears tables, wipes surfaces, sweeps floors, and resets the dining hall between meal periods.
- Monitors dish return areas, organizes trays, and transports dishes to the kitchen for washing.
- Communicates with kitchen staff about food shortages, dietary needs, or special requests.
- Assists with camp banquets, cookouts, themed meals, and outdoor dining events.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful:
- No experience required but you must have a strong willingness to learn new skills.
- Must be 16+ years old
- Willing to follow all hygiene (PPE) and sanitation procedures (training provided).
- Ability to work well with others in a busy, collaborative environment.
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and maintain accuracy in food handling, cleaning, and setup tasks.
Bonus If You Have These Skills:
- Familiarity with simple kitchen tasks, meal service, or dining hall operations.
- Ability to interact positively with campers and staff, providing friendly and attentive service.
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively to unexpected situations, such as supply shortages or spills.
- Shows motivation, takes initiative when tasks need to be done, and maintains a strong sense of responsibility.
- Comfortable adjusting to changing needs, schedules, and priorities.

Physical & Environmental Demands:
- Standing & Movement: Frequently stand, walk, and move throughout the kitchen, dining hall, and storage areas for most of the shift, often without extended opportunities to sit.
- Lifting Requirements: Routinely lift, carry, and transport food items, cookware, crates, and supplies weighing up to 40–50 pounds, sometimes over uneven camp terrain.
- Repetitive Motion: Regular bending, reaching, stirring, chopping, washing, pushing carts, and handling utensils or equipment throughout the day.
- Equipment Operation: Must safely operate kitchen appliances such as ovens, grills, mixers, dish machines, and food warmers, requiring manual dexterity and physical agility.
- Climbing Tasks: Occasional climbing of stairs, stepping stools, or ladders to access lofted storage, pantry shelves, or equipment.
- Temperature Exposure: Exposure to high heat from stoves, ovens, dishwashers, and steam, as well as cold environments like walk‑in refrigerators and freezers.
- Noise Levels: Work environment may include loud dish machines, ventilation systems, and busy dining hall activity; hearing protection may be required in certain areas.
- Odor Exposure: Strong food aromas, cleaning chemicals, and occasional smoke or steam are common in camp kitchen settings.
- Hard Surfaces: Staff must tolerate standing and working on concrete, tile, or similarly hard flooring for extended periods.
- PPE Requirements: Use of gloves, aprons, hairnets, hats, closed‑toe slip‑resistant shoes, and occasionally masks or safety glasses depending on tasks.
- Wet & Slippery Surfaces: Floors may become wet from dishwashing, spills, or weather tracked in from outdoors; proper footwear and caution are essential.
- Outdoor Exposure: Depending on camp layout, staff may walk between buildings in varying weather conditions (heat, rain, humidity).
