The Production Supervisor must understand, follow, and strictly comply with ALL safety rules and regulations. This includes recognizing and responding to potential hazards and safeguards such as:
- Motivate, coach, and mentor production employees. Practice servant leadership.
- Manage the production process to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
- Ensure efficient operation of the departments through training and development of associates.
- Leverage the performance system tools and lean concepts to improve quality, delivery, manufacturability, cost, and variation reduction.
- Monitor performance vs. standard-document variances and implement Corrective Actions (CA); identify issues and implement solutions.
- Perform supervisory activities including recruitment and selection, training and development, coaching and mentoring and administering performance review process for direct reports.
- Make recommendations for direct labor staffing requirements.
- Manage the labor schedule to optimize on time delivery, crew consistency, and productivity in line with the demand plan.
- Serve as focal point for daily production problems involving technical support as needed.
- Enforce good manufacturing practices, safety policies and good 5S housekeeping, always.
- Coordinate disposition of Hazardous Waste materials as needed.
- Verify that needed materials for upcoming Jobs, are available and quantity on hand is correct.
- Conduct Job closing of orders completed on machines to make sure all charges have been completed correctly.
- Conduct physical inventories
- Assist in ordering production materials and supplies as needed.
Maintaining housekeeping standards and a clean, organized work area is an essential part of this role.
This position works 2nd shift
Shift length may be 8‑hour or 12‑hour shifts, depending on production needs.
- 12‑Hour Shifts: 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM
- 8‑Hour Shifts:
- 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Candidates must be willing and able to work any and/or all shifts as required.
- Preferred – a bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- A high degree of initiative and motivation to achieve expected results
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to interface within cross-functional teams
- Good problem solving, observational, writing and communication skills
- Computer competence is required (proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Kronos Workforce Ready, etc. a plus)
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools
- Standard Work implementation experience is a plus
- Willing and able to rotate shifts as assigned
- Preferred union experience
