Duties
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, assessing the scene for safety and patient condition
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiology evaluations
- Administer basic life support (BLS), medication, injections, and other emergency treatments following established protocols
- Manage airway patency and ventilation using appropriate techniques and equipment
- Conduct triage to prioritize patient care based on severity and medical needs
- Transport patients safely to hospitals or trauma centers, ensuring continuous monitoring during critical care transport
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient care, vital signs, treatments administered, and incident reports
- Operate emergency vehicles responsibly, adhering to traffic laws and safety procedures, including heavy lifting when necessary
- Collaborate with hospital staff and emergency responders to facilitate seamless patient handoff and communication
Qualifications
- Valid EMT certification with demonstrated EMT experience in emergency medicine settings
- Prior hospital or emergency room experience highly preferred, especially within Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers
- Critical care experience is a strong plus, including familiarity with critical care transport procedures
- Knowledge of DME (Durable Medical Equipment), venipuncture, injection administration, and aseptic techniques
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and vital signs interpretation
- Ability to perform physical examinations accurately and efficiently under pressure
- Excellent patient assessment skills with a focus on trauma triage and urgent care procedures
- Experience with airway management techniques such as intubation or ventilation support preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to operate emergency vehicles safely
- Capable of heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks required during urgent care situations
