Novel Candles is looking for a dependable, organized, and self-motivated Studio Assistant to help create handcrafted luxury candles and keep our growing business running smoothly.
We’re a small but rapidly growing New Orleans candle company selling online through Etsy, Shopify, TikTok Shop, Squarespace, creating custom scents, hosting candle-making experiences (“pouring parties”) and supplying wholesale accounts throughout Louisiana, including retailers at MSY Airport.

About the Position —
Every shift has a purpose.
You’ll receive a production checklist that may include:
- Pouring candles & wax melts
- Wicking, labeling & packaging products
- Packing Etsy, Shopify, TikTok Shop & wholesale orders
- Preparing shipments & local order and UPS drop-offs
- Using the shop phone to take photos & videos of products and posting to social media
- Cleaning & organizing the studio
- Inventory counts & restocking supplies
- Recycling & preparing candle vessels for reuse by cleaning and removing labels
- Assisting with, prepping and packing supplies for candle-making classes & other local events
- Helping improve systems as we continue to grow
No two days are exactly alike—which keeps the job creative and rewarding.
The Ideal Candidate —

Takes pride in doing quality work
Familiar with Canva, Meta and Google Docs/Sheets/Mail or similar (These would be a plus but not required!)
Experience is helpful, but we’re happy to train the right person.
Our Work Style (What Makes Us Different) —
We’re results-focused—not clock-focused.
Each shift has a production checklist and daily responsibilities.
Once the day’s work has been completed correctly, the studio is clean and organized, and everything is ready for the next shift…
Your work is done.
Some days may take longer during holidays, candle classes, festivals, or large wholesale orders.
Other days, you may finish early and enjoy the rest of your afternoon.
We reward efficiency, quality, ownership, and initiative—not simply time spent in the building.
Schedule —
2–3 weekday shifts per week, depending on the season and current production needs.
As a small business, our workload naturally fluctuates throughout the year.
During slower periods there may be 2 shifts per week, while holidays, wholesale orders, festivals, candle-making classes, and busy seasons may increase to 3 or more opportunities for those interested.
Typical production days are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with occasional additional shifts for events or special projects.
Compensation —
Flat-rate pay per completed shift
Paid weekly

Performance bonuses available during busy seasons, wholesale production, candle classes, and special events
