Full-Time | Overnight Shift
Greenleaf Recycling is looking for a reliable and experienced Overnight Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for performing repairs, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and equipment inspections on our fleet of garbage trucks, roll-off trucks, pickups, trailers, and other heavy equipment.
The ideal candidate is someone who can work independently, take ownership of repairs from start to finish, and help keep our fleet safe, reliable, and ready for daily operations. This role is especially important because overnight maintenance helps reduce downtime and ensures trucks are ready for drivers the next morning.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on diesel trucks, garbage trucks, roll-off trucks, pickups, trailers, and related equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance thoroughly and consistently.
- Work on diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and other heavy truck components.
- Identify mechanical issues before failure occurs and make recommendations to improve fleet reliability.
- Properly test equipment before releasing it back into service.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns when needed.
- Maintain accurate repair and maintenance documentation.
- Track parts needs and communicate them in advance to reduce downtime.
- Keep the shop area clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and DOT-related maintenance requirements.
- Assist other team members as needed.
Qualifications
- Diesel mechanic or heavy truck repair experience required.
- Experience with hydraulics, electrical systems, diesel engines, and heavy truck components preferred.
- Garbage truck, roll-off truck, or waste industry fleet experience is a plus.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical issues accurately without excessive trial and error.
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance schedules.
- Ability to work independently during overnight hours.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are required.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with supervisors and team members regarding repairs, parts needs, and equipment status.
- Must take pride in completing repairs correctly the first time with minimal rework.
- Valid driver’s license required. CDL is a plus but not required unless otherwise specified.
