Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure safe treatment plans
- Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions using clear dental terminology
- Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) in Dentrix
- Maintain a sterile environment by following infection control standards, including sterilization of instruments and proper disposal of sharps
Qualifications
- Valid license as a Dental Hygienist with current Virginia certification
- CPR/BLS current
- Proven experience working in dental offices or clinics, with familiarity using EMR system Dentrix preferred
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse age groups, including pediatrics
- Ability to perform medical coding and review documentation accurately for billing purposes
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is a plus, along with experience in general dentistry settings
- Demonstrated proficiency in medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation review

This position will be 2 days a week at our Burgess location on Mondays and Thursday 7:30-3:00.
We are growing and are very hopeful this will become a full time position.
Pay: $48.00 - $60.00 per hour
