Responsibilities
- Thoroughly clean dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment following safety standards in production.
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as slicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients using proper knife skills and slicing techniques.
- Support meal preparation by assembling ingredients according to recipes and menu plans.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including dishwashers, ovens, mixers, and other small appliances.
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen environment through regular cleaning of workstations, floors, and storage areas.
- Follow food safety protocols in handling ingredients and during food service to ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate food prep activities and ensure timely meal service.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
- Basic knowledge of food handling safety standards and sanitation practices.
- Experience with menu planning or culinary activities such as cooking or recipe adherence is a plus.
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment and understanding of safety standards in food production environments.
- Strong communication skills for effective teamwork within a busy kitchen setting.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks including lifting heavy items.
- Prior restaurant or food service experience is advantageous; familiarity with catering or food industry operations is beneficial.
