Bethel Christian Academy (BCA) Job Description Overview
Teaches subjects and classes as assigned using curriculum resources, supplementary materials, and technology in accordance with instructional objectives. Collaborates with colleagues, leads field trips and utilizes guest speakers and special activities to enhance student learning.
Responsible for evaluating student performance, communicating with parents, and providing classroom accommodations and differentiation of instruction as possible to meet student needs.
Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly classroom learning environment for students.
Responsible for establishing and developing parent relationships to create effective partnerships for the benefit of students.
Reports to the Principal and designated campus administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related subject
Unrelated Bachelor’s Degree and/or years of teaching experience will be considered

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Classroom Appearance
Maintain a neat, attractive, organized classroom
Clean and vacuum classroom and remove trash daily
2. School Activities/Events
Attend specified events listed in the Faculty Manual unless specifically excused by an administrator
3. Attendance
Arrive on time and stay until contracted leave time
Contact the designated administrator if ill and unable to come to work
Prepare comprehensive lesson plans for the substitute
4. Student Supervision/Oversight
Greet students at the classroom on time
Check student compliance with the uniform/dress code; notify parents as necessary
Fulfill assigned supervisory duties during student arrival and dismissal and during lunch and recess periods
Provide oversight in hallways and during locker breaks; facilitate student maintenance of lockers
Facilitate student organization through instruction and supervision of materials and binders
Provide passes to students who must leave the classroom
Ensure that sick or injured students are taken to the health room safely
Maintain order and provide appropriate and effective discipline as needed
Document behavioral incidents as required in the Faculty Manual
Ensure that students are dismissed on time
5. Administrative Duties
Take student attendance and hot lunch count on time daily unless otherwise delegated

6. Academic Instruction
Teach the class(es) and subjects for which the teacher was contracted; middle school teachers are expected to teach at least one elective class in addition to the sections of his/her subject
Create lesson plans in accordance with instructional objectives and curriculum guides and prepare for lessons in advance of instruction to maximize class time and student learning
Provide engaging, effective instruction using a variety of strategies, techniques, and resources including technology
Teach and interact with students effectively during any required distance learning.
Use valid formative and summative evaluation methods to assess student performance
Assign appropriate types and amounts of homework to meet instructional objectives
Plan field trips and guest speakers related to subject content to enhance learning
Collaborate with colleagues and/or assigned Teacher Assistant to maximize student learning
Participate in creating instructional objectives for the development of the BCA academic program
Maintain inventory of textbooks and instructional materials
7. Academic Reporting
Submit required lesson plans on time weekly
Post homework information for parents on time weekly
Enter grades in the grade book weekly in accordance with stated requirements
Submit quarterly curriculum progress reports to the administration
Enter required information onto quarterly report cards by stated deadline
8. Parent Communication
Maintain regular, positive communication
Be available to meet with parents for conferences on scheduled days and at the parents’ request
Schedule parent classroom observations at the parents’ request
Provide information and resources to parents regarding academic concerns
9. Additional Duties
Fulfill other duties as needed and directed by the administrator
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $43,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
