As part of our expanding team, we are looking for a driven Aerospace Planner to coordinate and optimize planning efforts in our machine shop operations.
Position Summary:
The Aerospace Planner plays a key role in ensuring efficient production scheduling, materials coordination, and workflow optimization to meet customer deadlines and quality standards. This position requires strong analytical skills, cross-functional communication, and a deep understanding of manufacturing planning within a high-tolerance, aerospace-focused machine shop environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- · Scheduling and managing the production process within the facility. Knowing the current location and progress of all assigned parts.
· Maintaining accurate and up-to-date internal reports.
· Understanding the cost and run time of each part or process to provide accurate pricingand delivery estimates to customers. Planner is responsible to respond back to customer within 3 days for order confirmation. Communicating promptly with customers regarding any changes to delivery dates and price changes that do not align with the Open Orders Report due dates.
- Planner are responsible for releasing travelers 1 week prior to mill start date to maintain the production and delivery schedule. If material is not available, do not release travelers. Planners should plan and monitor production activity within a rolling 8-week planning window to ensure materials, capacity, and priorities are properly aligned.
- Planners must verify all drawing revisions before releasing travelers. If a revision has changed, planners are required to update the traveler to the latest revision and document the update by signing and dating the change. Update all supporting documents also.
- Controlling stock levels to balance supply and demand, including monitoring inventory turnover rates, setting reorder points, and managing safety stock to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Maintain open order discrepancies between open order report and customer backlog twice a month minimum.
- Track and maintain inventory records of all parts scrapped at the machine shop and during outside processing.
- Maintain and monitor outside processing pricing, ensuring all updates or changes are understood and documented. Confirm that accurate pricing is included on purchase orders before parts are sent out. Add standard lead time date or need date to every outside process purchase order created.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree Preferred; Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or planning role, ideally within the aerospace or precision machining sector
- Strong understanding of machine shop workflows, materials management, and scheduling software (e.g., ERP/MRP systems)
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- MUST BE ABLE TO INTERPRET/READ AEROSPACE BLUEPRINTS
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with AS9100 standards and aerospace documentation requirements
- Prior experience with lean manufacturing principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
