Assisted Living & Memory Care Community – Oakland, CA
We are seeking an exceptional Activities & Engagement professional to join our assisted living community in Oakland. This role is ideal for someone who brings depth, maturity, creativity, and emotional intelligence to their work with elders—particularly residents with mild to moderate memory care needs who remain alert, expressive, and largely independent.
This is not an entry-level activities position. We are looking for someone who understands that meaningful engagement is about presence, dignity, rhythm, and relationship, not just programming.

Key Responsibilities
Design and facilitate high-quality, thoughtful activities that engage residents emotionally, cognitively, and socially
Lead small-group and one-on-one engagements tailored to residents with memory care needs
Create programming that may include:
arts and creative expression
music and movement
conversation circles and storytelling
gentle cognitive stimulation
cultural, seasonal, or interest-based gatherings
Build warm, trusting relationships with residents and families
Collaborate closely with wellness and care staff to align activities with residents’ abilities and care plans
Maintain a calm, respectful, and uplifting presence in the community
Observe and adapt activities based on residents’ mood, energy, and cognitive changes
Qualifications
Significant experience working with elders in assisted living, memory care, or similar settings
Demonstrated ability to work with residents who have memory loss while preserving dignity and independence
Refined interpersonal skills and emotional maturity
Creative, culturally sensitive, and intellectually curious
Strong communication and organizational skills
Professional, warm, and dependable demeanor
Experience in arts, education, therapy, humanities, or facilitation is a strong plus\
