We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Assistant Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial HVAC/mechanical construction projects throughout South Florida.
This position will work directly with Project Managers, field personnel, subcontractors, general contractors, vendors, and engineers to help ensure projects are completed according to the contract documents, schedule, and budget.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with mechanical construction experience who wants to develop into a Project Manager role.
Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with day-to-day management of commercial HVAC projects.
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, submittals, and project requirements.
- Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation.
- Coordinate equipment and material procurement with vendors and suppliers.
- Track equipment, ductwork, air distribution, controls, and other mechanical material deliveries.
- Assist with project schedules and monitor upcoming deadlines and milestones.
- Coordinate with field supervisors and technicians regarding manpower, materials, and project requirements.
- Communicate with general contractors, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Attend project meetings and assist with meeting follow-ups.
- Review field conditions and identify potential conflicts between mechanical work and other trades.
- Assist with mechanical inspections, equipment start-up, TAB, punch lists, and project closeout.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation.
- Assist with pricing and documentation for additional work and change orders.
Qualifications
- Experience in commercial HVAC, mechanical construction, or construction project management preferred but not mandatory.
- Working knowledge of construction drawings.
- Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and general construction/project management software.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Preferred Experience
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- Commercial HVAC construction
- Mechanical estimating
- RFIs and submittals
- Change orders
- Equipment procurement
- Construction scheduling
- Procore or similar project management software
- Mechanical inspections and permitting
- Project closeout documentation
