Position Description

SUMMARY: Provide classroom instruction and maintain classroom management during the absence of the teacher of
record.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance
2. Provide classroom instruction for the teacher of record
3. Conduct supervised small groups of individualized classroom activities based on lesson plans developed by the
teacher of record
4. Provide a well-managed, safe, and orderly environment that encourages respect for all
5. Communicate responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership
6. Follow professional ethics in all work-related activities
7. Follow county, state and federal policies and procedures
8. Perform other duties as assigned and allowable by the intended program
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 21 years of age
Complete an online application and select the appropriate vacancy
Provide a copy of a teaching certificate if a certified teacher in any state
Provide a copy of a valid paraprofessional license if applicable
Provide the names, addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses of three professional references (one must be from a
current or former supervisor); friends and relatives may NOT provide references
Have a record with the Professional Standards Commission (PSC) that does not reveal evidence of any action having ever
been taken against the certificate of the applicant (this only applies to applicants who hold or have held a PSC certificate,
permit, or license). Applicants who have been non-renewed based on performance concerns may not apply.
Applicants who do not hold a valid teaching certificate must complete the SubSkills online training course before they begin
subbing. The course will be paid for by Fayette County Schools. Instructions will be provided as part of the vetting process.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force
occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequent
bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, couching, reaching, handling, and repetitive fine motor activities.
