Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Polysomnographic Technologist - RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist) to join our dynamic sleep medicine team. In this vital role, you will perform comprehensive sleep studies, monitor polysomnography (PSG) testing, and ensure accurate data collection to assist in diagnosing sleep-wake disorders. Responsibilities
- Conduct diagnostic sleep studies, including polysomnography (PSG) monitoring, ensuring proper setup and calibration of polysomnography equipment.
- Operate and troubleshoot advanced sleep testing devices such as EEG (electroencephalography), CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure), and BiPAP (bilevel positive airway pressure) machines.
- Perform physical examinations and assess patients’ medical history to tailor sleep studies effectively.
- Monitor patients throughout sleep studies, recording vital signs, respiratory patterns, electroencephalography signals, and other physiological data with precision.
- Score manual sleep tests by analyzing EEG, EOG (electrooculography), EMG (electromyography), airflow, oxygen saturation, and other parameters to generate accurate reports.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) efficiently, documenting all patient interactions, test results, and procedural details clearly and securely.
- Educate patients on the sleep study process, ensuring comfort and compliance while providing compassionate patient care.
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or equivalent credential.
- Proven experience working with sleep studies and familiarity with polysomnography equipment and monitoring techniques.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and respiratory therapy related to sleep medicine.
- Ability to operate medical equipment safely and effectively, including CPAP/BiPAP machines and electroencephalography systems.
- Excellent understanding of sleep-wake disorders and experience performing diagnostic evaluations for diverse patient populations.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR management for accurate documentation of patient data and test results.
- Knowledge of vital signs monitoring, physical examinations, and medical equipment operation in a sleep center setting.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required to ensure patient safety during testing procedures.
