Full-Time position for the 2026-2027 school year
Reports to: Technology Director of Technology (or designee)
Niles Community Schools is looking for a dynamic Tech Support Technician. Highly-effective communication skills and professionalism required for daily interaction with a diverse workforce, student population, building administration and community.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required. An Associate's degree, documented progress toward a degree, relevant certifications, or comparable hands-on experience is preferred.

Experience supporting Chromebooks, Google Workspace, or similar devices and platforms is preferred.

Experience in an educational environment working with staff and students is a plus.

Comfortable with basic technology troubleshooting concepts, methods, and tools, with a strong focus on Chromebooks and classroom devices.

Able to learn new systems quickly and follow documented procedures.

Able to collaborate and communicate effectively with a range of school audiences, including students and staff who are not technically inclined.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel between buildings.

Willingness to improve and develop job related skills.

Excellent work habits and attendance record.

Shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace.
Essential Duties (non-prioritized):
-
Receive and respond to incoming calls, emails, and work orders related to technology issues during the building's primary hours of operation.

Provide Tier 1 troubleshooting and support for student and staff Chromebooks, including power and charging issues, login and account problems, Wi-Fi connectivity, screen and keyboard issues, and basic hardware repair or swap-out.

Image, enroll, update, and prepare Chromebooks for deployment, and process devices for repair, replacement, or end-of-life.

Set up, troubleshoot, and maintain classroom display technology, including projectors, document cameras, interactive panels, and the cables and connections that support them.

Support staff and students with common peripherals such as monitors, keyboards, mice, headphones, webcams, printers, scanners, and charging carts.

Troubleshoot basic internet and network connectivity issues at the device and classroom level, and confirm whether a problem is isolated or building wide before escalating.

Install, configure, and test district approved software and applications on supported devices.

Provide hands-on assistance and informal training to help staff and students use their devices and classroom technology effectively.

Log all work accurately in the help desk or ticketing system, including the issue, the steps taken, and the resolution.

Maintain an accurate inventory of building technology assets and document device assignments, repairs, and losses.

Escalate complex, network, server, security, or systems level issues to Tier 2 staff or the Director of Technology with clear notes on what has already been tried.

Maintain confidentiality regarding all student and staff information.

Comply with all school district policies and procedures.

Communicate effectively and professionally with staff, students, and administrators.

Demonstrate initiative, work independently, and follow tasks through to completion.

Continue to build personal knowledge of the devices, software, and classroom technology you support.

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology, Building Principal, Central Office Administration, or Superintendent of Schools.
