Job Summary
The Dishwasher plays a critical supporting role in the success of the Prepared Food team. He is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanity of all kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas, ensuring that the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently. Their work helps create a safe, clean and organized environment, allowing the team to focus on preparing and serving high-quality food.
Although their work is mostly behind the scenes, this role is essential to the overall customer experience, supporting the kitchen's ability to deliver fresh, delicious and consistent meals. Dishwashers are expected to work as a team, treat others with respect, follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, and take pride in keeping the kitchen clean and well-organized.
Responsibilities:
- Wear a clean uniform and apron on each shift; Personal appearance is important and demonstrates respect for food, equipment, and customers.
- Pick up used cookware (plates, pots, utensils, and containers) from the kitchen and food service areas.
- Wash utensils using industrial washing machines or by hand, as needed (especially large or delicate items such as pots and cutting boards).
- Prepare and sanitize washing stations and kitchen areas before and after service.
- Ensure that all clean utensils and equipment are dry, stored, and returned to their proper place.
- Regularly emptying garbage and recycling; sweep and mop floors as needed to maintain a safe and clean kitchen environment.
- Monitor the operation of dishwashers and notify the Culinary Leader of any technical or performance issues.
- Support the team by helping with basic cooking tasks, restocking supplies, and cleaning and organizing during the day.
- Comply with all health and food safety regulations related to sanitation, hand washing, chemical handling and personal hygiene.
- Other duties assigned by the manager, Culinary Leader, or chef.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a dishwasher or in the kitchen is helpful but not required.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to follow directions, stay organized, and work efficiently.
- Positive attitude and willingness to help others in the team.
- Reliable, detail-oriented person committed to cleanliness and safety.
