Summary:
Supports the administration and implementation of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and sustainability requirements through inspections, data management, recordkeeping, and employee engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, facilitate, and support the delivery of EHS training programs, including safety orientation, refresher training, and regulatory required training; assist with training documentation and recordkeeping.
- Conduct, document, and track inspections of emergency response equipment and safety systems; follow up on deficiencies and corrective actions.
- Support workplace hygiene, health, and hazard identification and mitigation efforts through inspections, risk assessments, and employee engagement.
- Coordinate safety committee meetings, employee EHS initiatives, and related communications; prepare meeting materials and maintain records.
- Coordinates employee health and wellness initiatives (e.g., on-site flu vaccination clinics) by managing scheduling, vendor partnerships, logistics, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist with incident investigation activities, including root cause analysis, documentation, and tracking of corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide administrative and operational support to site Emergency Response Teams (ERT), including First Aid and evacuation teams.
- Manage chemical inventories and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) using the designated electronic system; support Hazard Communication compliance.
- Collaborate with site leadership, employees, and cross functional teams to promote a strong safety culture.
- Coordinates employee health and wellness initiatives (e.g., on-site flu vaccination clinics) by managing scheduling, vendor partnerships, logistics, and regulatory compliance.
- Support environmental and safety compliance activities, including data collection, recordkeeping, inspections, and reporting in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with an occupational safety and/or environmental focus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, NYSDEC, NFPA).
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, with the ability to communicate fluently in both languages.
- OSHA 10 hour or 40 hour certification(s) preferred.
- HazMat related certifications (e.g., DOT, IATA, IMDG) preferred or willingness to obtain.
- First Aid, CPR, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Experience supporting safety committees, accident review teams, root cause analysis, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Ability to use computers and standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, EHS management systems).
- Experience with or ability to quickly become proficient in EHS management and training software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated organizational, administrative, and time management skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrates a high level of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to work independently with guidance and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
