The Green Mountain Unified School District is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic PreK Teaching Assistant to join our early childhood education team at Cavendish Town Elementary School. The PreK Teaching Assistant plays an important role in creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children ages 35.Working collaboratively with the PreK Lead Teacher, the Teaching Assistant supports daily classroom routines, play-based learning, student development, and family partnerships in alignment with Vermonts Early Learning Standards and program expectations.ResponsibilitiesThe PreK Teaching Assistant will: Support classroom instruction and play-based learning under the guidance of the Lead Teacher.Assist with implementing daily routines, transitions, and classroom procedures.Provide active supervision of students during indoor and outdoor activities.Promote social-emotional growth and support individual student needs, including behavioral support.Help prepare instructional materials and maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.Assist students with toileting, hygiene, and other care routines as needed.Communicate professionally and collaboratively with families, colleagues, and school staff.Participate in team planning meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.Follow all district policies, early childhood education regulations, and licensing requirements.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will: Enjoy working with young children and supporting their growth and development.Demonstrate patience, flexibility, and strong communication skills.Work effectively as part of a collaborative teaching team.Create positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.Have experience working with preschool-aged children preferred, but not required.Compensation & BenefitsCompensation is based on experience and placement according to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).Please note that a successor CBA is currently being negotiated, with a new agreement anticipated in August. Compensation is expected to increase upon ratification of the new agreement, and the successful candidate's pay will be adjusted accordingly.
