CNC Lathe Machinist – Mazatrol Programmer/Setup/Operator
Pay: $20.00–$30.00+ per hour, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 1st and 2nd shift available
Overtime: 55+ hours per week available and strongly encouraged
We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist with strong Mazatrol programming and setup experience to join our growing team.
Our shop operates over 20 Mazak Quick Turn lathes with controls ranging from 640T to the latest Smooth G. Many machines are equipped with live tooling and Y-axis capabilities. We also operate a variety of other CNC equipment throughout the shop.
This is a fast-paced environment requiring individuals who can work independently, solve problems, and produce quality work with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Set up, program, and operate Mazak CNC lathes using Mazatrol controls
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications
- Select appropriate tooling, workholding, and machining strategies
- Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks
- Maintain dimensional accuracy and tight tolerances
- Troubleshoot machining and programming issues
- Optimize cycle times and improve production efficiency
- Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work areas organized
Qualifications
Required:
- 3+ years of CNC lathe setup experience
- Proficiency with Mazatrol programming and Mazak machines
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
- Experience using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators
- Strong understanding of tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining practices
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred:
- Experience with live tooling
- Experience with Y-axis machining
- Knowledge of G-code programming
- Experience with multi-tasking and/or multi-axis machines
