Walters Buildings, the premier family-owned post fame builder in the Midwest, is hiring a full-time Steel Production Operator for our manufacturing plant in Allenton, WI.
Typical Schedule: Monday - Thursday 5:30am - 3pm and Friday 5:30am - 9:30am.
Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Director of Manufacturing Operations, the Steel Production Operator will utilize manufacturing equipment to cut, slit, fold, and/or roll form steel panels within the plant. This position works in a plant setting, focusing on high quality, timely, efficient, and cost-effective production.
Duties/Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all‑inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Read, understand, and follow work orders and special product requisitions.
- Set up and operate various production equipment including folders, slitters and roll formers.
- Enter part information into the machine/equipment interface to program machine settings; use overhead crane to move steel coils.
- Inspect materials for quality and compliance with Walters’ manufacturing standards; accept or reject accordingly.
- Stock and organize materials; maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.
- Participate in periodic physical inventory counts.
- Promote and contribute to a safe, efficient, and positive plant culture, including performing daily safety inspections for both machines and equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Basic mechanical skills and ability to perform basic hands-on tasks and trouble shooting.
- Basic computer skills required for equipment setup and operation.
- Ability to obtain certification in forklift and an overhead crane operation (training and certification provided).
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Basic construction skills such as using tape measure, skill saw and nail gun (training will be provided).
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong attention to detail; reliable and disciplined work ethic.
- Committed to a “Safety First” mindset and safe work practices.
- Must be able to accurately distinguish colors.
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Physical demands include walking/standing frequently, kneeling/stooping/bending/twisting occasionally, climbing step stools and ladders occasionally, reaching overhead occasionally, full range of motion with both hands.
- Work performed outdoors and indoors. This can include extreme weather conditions and working in a dusty environment.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One year of manufacturing experience.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
