A hospital in Missoula, Montana is seeking a senior-level Director of Surgical Services to provide leadership oversight of its surgical services department. This is a fully on-site, in-person leadership role with no ongoing travel required. Partial relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates. The Director of Surgical Services holds responsibility for the strategic and operational leadership of the entire surgical services department. This individual will oversee clinical staff, uphold quality and safety standards, and drive departmental performance at every level. The position calls for a seasoned nursing leader with the ability to effectively manage both clinical and administrative functions within a surgical services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational direction for the surgical services department
- Oversee and lead clinical staff across all surgical service lines
- Ensure quality standards and patient safety protocols are consistently maintained
- Drive departmental performance through goal setting and process improvement
- Manage both clinical and administrative functions within the department
- Collaborate with hospital leadership to align surgical services with organizational objectives
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices for surgical operations
- Support staff recruitment, development, and ongoing performance management
- Monitor key performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
- Foster a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous growth
Qualifications
- Current or eligible Registered Nurse license in the state of Montana required
- Five years of experience as a Surgical Services RN required
- Five years of leadership experience at the Director level required
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
- Advanced degree such as MSN, Healthcare Administration, or MBA strongly preferred
- Basic Life Support certification upon hire preferred
- PALS and ACLS certifications within six months of hire preferred
