The position is primarily front office work for a medical practice. We have multiple doctors practicing primarily hyperbaric and dive medicine, and wound care, in addition to one physician practicing pulmonary and sleep medicine. This job requires organizational and multitasking skills and includes such tasks as answering phones, checking in patients, doing vitals signs, insurance verification, and uploading documents/filing. There is opportunity for independence, self reliance and creative input , working in coordination with the team, to provide smooth effective medical care to our patients. Must be personable and professional in presentation and eager to shoulder responsibility for the optimal functioning of the practice.
You would be working primarily for three practices. Hyperbaric Medical Services (HMS), based in San Francisco, California, is a corporation providing patient care and consulting services in the fields of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and wound care. HMS is closely affiliated with Hyperbaric Consultants Medical Group, a team of predominantly sub-specialty trained, certified and boarded hyperbaric/wound care physicians. With over 30 years of cumulative experience in the fields of hyperbaric medicine and wound care, HMS brings a solid platform of clinical, administrative and marketing expertise. In addition Dr. Bigelow has a pulmonary, sleep and dive medicine practice which runs concurrently with HMS and HCMG.
The office is small and personable. We work together as a family. This position is the front line for all 3 practices, answering the phones, checking patients in, taking copayments, etc. For Dr. Bigelow's practice you are the main MA working the clinic. The practice is partially virtual and partially in-person. Billing is not done in this office but authorizations and communication with the billing office is frequent. We use two different EMR systems in which we will train you.
