Duties
- Lead and supervise groups of children or youth during various activities such as educational sessions, recreational games, arts and crafts, sports coaching, theater productions, or camp events
- Implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote childhood development, early childhood education, and social skills
- Manage classroom or activity space to ensure safety through effective behavior management and classroom management techniques
- Provide first aid when necessary and respond promptly to any medical or behavioral incidents to ensure participant well-being
- Collaborate with team members to plan engaging programs that incorporate Christian counseling principles or values where applicable
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding participant progress, behavior, and program updates
- Maintain detailed records of attendance, incidents, and developmental milestones in accordance with organizational policies
Skills
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to foster positive behavior and create an inclusive environment
- Experience working with children across diverse age groups in settings such as daycare, preschool, summer camp, or after-school programs
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
- Ability to lead sports coaching sessions or facilitate recreational activities like theater or arts programs
- Proficiency in child safety protocols including first aid certification and emergency response procedures
- Excellent communication skills for working with children, parents, staff, and community partners
- Background in special education or experience supporting children with unique needs is a plus
