The ExpandED Learning Area Manager is a field-based leadership role supporting assigned district contracts and ExpandED Learning sites. This role is responsible for ensuring program quality, compliance, fiscal accountability, staffing, and district/community engagement across multiple sites within a defined region.
This position provides direct oversight, coaching, and support to Managers and/or Supervisors to ensure programs are high-quality, safe, fiscally sound, and compliant with Catalyst’s mission, values, and contract expectations.
The Area Manager partners closely with Regional Directors to execute regional and district goals, monitor contract performance, and implement quality, staffing, attendance, and compliance initiatives at the site level. The role requires frequent travel between assigned sites throughout the week to provide consistent support and hands-on leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide field-based oversight, coaching, and support to assigned Expanded Learning sites.
- Ensure programs are safe, high-quality, compliant, fiscally responsible, and aligned with Catalyst’s mission and values.
- Conduct regular site visits to observe program quality, supervision, student engagement, enrichment activities, staffing, and documentation.
- Monitor alignment with district, grant, state, and agency requirements.
- Support successful implementation of assigned district contracts, including service levels, deliverables, timelines, and communication expectations.
- Monitor attendance, participation, enrollment, staffing patterns, ratios, budgets, expenditures, and reporting timelines.
- Use program data, site observations, and stakeholder feedback to identify trends, barriers, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Coach and supervise Managers and/or Supervisors through ongoing feedback, accountability, professional development, and site-level problem solving.
- Support consistent implementation of agency systems, training expectations, program procedures, and district-specific requirements.
- Partner with the Regional Director to implement regional goals, district priorities, corrective action plans, quality improvement efforts, and expansion strategies.
- Support alignment between Expanded Learning programs, school-day priorities, district expectations, and student/family needs.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, employee relations, performance management, and succession planning in partnership with HR and regional leadership.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with school administrators, district partners, community organizations, families, and internal teams.
- Represent Catalyst in district meetings, community events, planning groups, and partnership conversations in collaboration with the Regional Director.
- Prepare reports, analyses, and recommendations, and participate in regional or statewide initiatives, pilots, and projects.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Business, Child Development, Education, Public Administration, or related field.
- 5+ Years of experience managing early child education/school/child development setting.
- Experience supervising, coaching, and developing managers, supervisors, or site leaders.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations, district partnerships, program expansion, or new site openings.
- Strong understanding of state-funded, district-funded, grant-funded, or Expanded Learning program compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Child Development, Education, Public Administration, or related field.

Working Conditions:
- Generally pleasant working conditions.
- Less than 50% of daily assignments involve prolonged physical effort.
- Travel: Up to 80% to assigned sites and community meetings.
- 100% district/site-based role requiring regular physical presence and frequent travel between multiple assigned sites throughout the week to support program needs

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day
