Odyssey Mental Health Care is a growing mental health practice providing accessible, patient-centered psychiatric care to individuals across the lifespan throughout Central Indiana and via telehealth anywhere in the state.
Our philosophy is simple: meet patients where they are.
For some patients, that means a virtual appointment from home. For others—including individuals with disabilities, limited mobility, complex medical needs, or those living in residential communities—it means bringing high-quality mental health care directly to them.
We are seeking compassionate, motivated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners to join our growing clinical team.
Positions initially begin part-time, with the opportunity to gradually increase hours and transition to full-time as each provider's patient base grows, based on the provider's interest and availability.
Experienced PMHNPs and new graduates are encouraged to apply.
About the Position
This is a hybrid psychiatric provider position combining in-person, home-based care with telehealth.
Our providers see patients wherever they call home, including:
- Private residences
- Assisted living and independent living communities
- Skilled nursing facilities
- Group homes
- Senior and residential communities
- Other home-based settings
Telehealth appointments are also provided when clinically appropriate.
Odyssey serves patients across a wide range of ages, psychiatric diagnoses, life circumstances, and levels of independence. Providers should be comfortable adapting their approach to the individual patient and working collaboratively with families, caregivers, facility staff, and other members of the patient's care team when appropriate.
What You'll Do
As a PMHNP with Odyssey Mental Health Care, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric care while developing meaningful, ongoing relationships with your patients.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations
- Assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions
- Develop and manage individualized treatment plans
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications in accordance with current clinical standards and scope of practice
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding medications, potential risks and benefits, treatment options, and reasonable outcome expectations
- Provide supportive therapeutic interventions and patient education as part of comprehensive psychiatric care
- Monitor treatment response and adjust treatment plans as clinically appropriate
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation within the electronic health record
- Apply appropriate coding and billing guidelines for services provided
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, facilities, pharmacies, and other members of the patient's treatment team
- Collaborate with Odyssey's psychiatric providers and therapists when clinically appropriate
- Coordinate care with primary care and other medical providers as needed
- Provide both in-person community/home-based visits and telehealth services
- Maintain patient confidentiality, professional boundaries, and applicable clinical and ethical standards
The Provider We're Looking For
Successful Odyssey providers are clinicians who value both clinical independence and meaningful patient relationships.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has an excellent bedside manner and takes time to build rapport with patients
- Listens to patients and families and includes them appropriately in treatment decisions
- Provides compassionate, thoughtful, patient-centered care
- Is comfortable treating patients with varying psychiatric needs and levels of complexity
- Communicates clearly and professionally with patients, families, caregivers, facility staff, and colleagues
- Can work independently while also recognizing the value of an interdisciplinary team
- Is organized and able to manage a community-based patient schedule
- Is comfortable utilizing technology, electronic health records, email, and telehealth platforms
- Is a self-starter who can manage their day independently
- Is comfortable traveling to patients in a variety of residential environments
- Has a genuine interest in expanding access to mental health care for patients who may have difficulty accessing a traditional office-based practice
New Graduates Are Welcome
We recognize that becoming a strong psychiatric provider involves continued learning and professional growth.
We welcome applications from newly graduated and newly certified PMHNPs who demonstrate sound clinical judgment, strong communication skills, initiative, and a genuine commitment to providing thoughtful, patient-centered psychiatric care.
Our established practice infrastructure and collaborative clinical environment allow newer providers to develop their patient base and experience while remaining connected to a larger mental health care team.
Experienced PMHNPs are equally encouraged to apply, particularly those seeking greater flexibility, autonomy, or an opportunity to develop their own patient base within an established practice.
Flexible Schedule With Opportunity to Grow
We recognize that flexibility and work-life balance are important. Our scheduling model allows providers to build a schedule that fits their professional and personal goals while meeting the needs of their patients.
Providers initially begin on a part-time schedule. The minimum schedule requirement may be met in either of the following ways:
- Two half-days per week, with a minimum of 5 scheduled hours each day; OR
- One full 8-hour day per week
Providers may initially work up to three full 8-hour days per week, as patient base supports.
As your patient base grows, your schedule can grow with it. Providers who want additional hours may gradually increase their schedules based on patient demand and their own preferences.
For providers interested in eventually transitioning to full-time employment, a full-time schedule consists of 40 hours per week and may be structured as either:
- Five 8-hour days; or
- Four 10-hour days
There is no expectation that a part-time provider must become full-time. Providers may maintain a part-time schedule or pursue additional hours as their patient base develops and their professional goals evolve.
Compensation & Mileage
Odyssey utilizes a pay-per-procedure compensation model based on CPT codes billed for services provided rather than a traditional fixed hourly wage.
This structure allows providers flexibility in managing their schedules while tying compensation to the professional services they provide. Procedure-based compensation includes the clinical documentation associated with those services.
Because this position includes community and home-based patient care, qualifying business mileage is reimbursed separately from procedure-based compensation.
Specific CPT-based compensation rates and additional details regarding the compensation structure will be discussed during the interview process.
Hybrid Care – Meet Patients Where They Are
This is not a traditional office-based provider position.
Providers should be comfortable traveling to patients' homes and residential settings throughout their assigned service area. This may require navigating stairs, elevators, sidewalks, parking areas, and other environments encountered during community-based care.
At the same time, telehealth provides flexibility to care for appropriate patients virtually.
This combination allows our providers to develop a varied schedule while helping reach patients who might otherwise experience significant barriers to receiving psychiatric care.
Focus on Patient Care – We Handle the Administrative Work
Our goal is to allow our providers to spend more of their professional time providing excellent patient care rather than managing the administrative side of a practice.
Odyssey provides:
- Patient referral generation
- Insurance credentialing
- Patient scheduling
- Billing and claims support
- Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Order processing and administrative follow-up
- Front-office support
- Back-office and administrative support
- Assistance coordinating with facilities, families, pharmacies, and other care partners
- Ongoing efforts to develop and grow each provider's patient base
Appointments are scheduled with the goal of allowing providers appropriate time for patient interaction, clinical decision-making, and relationship building.
Qualifications
Required:
- Master's or doctoral degree from an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program
- Current Indiana APRN license or eligibility to obtain Indiana licensure
- Current DEA registration or ability to obtain one
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening
- Ability and willingness to provide both community/home-based and telehealth care
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to utilize electronic health records and other healthcare technology
Prior PMHNP experience is not required. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
Why Odyssey Mental Health Care?

Our providers have the opportunity to practice with a high degree of independence while having the resources and support of an established mental health practice behind them.
As a provider with Odyssey, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Develop meaningful, ongoing relationships with patients
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric medication management and supportive mental health care
- Work with patients across a variety of ages, backgrounds, diagnoses, and living environments

- Have administrative, scheduling, billing, credentialing, and referral support
- Receive mileage reimbursement for qualifying business travel
- Build a schedule that can grow along with your patient base
- Maintain a part-time schedule if that best meets your needs
- Grow into a full-time position if desired and supported by your patient base
- Spend your workday somewhere other than a traditional office
If you are a compassionate PMHNP who values relationship-based care and believes patients should be able to access quality mental health treatment wherever they call home, we would love to hear from you.
