Northfield EMS is seeking a motivated and experienced Paramedic Leader to join our team as Operations Captain. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of a progressive, regional paramedic-level ambulance service serving the communities of Northfield, Bernardston, Gill, and Erving.
The Operations Captain serves as a key member of the leadership team, working closely with the EMS Chief to support daily operations, clinical excellence, workforce development, quality improvement, and community engagement. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care, employee development, and organizational growth.
What You'll Do
- Assist in managing daily EMS operations
- Supervise and mentor EMS personnel
- Lead quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives
- Coordinate training and continuing education programs
- Support onboarding and credentialing of new staff
- Participate in strategic planning and operational development
- Respond to emergency incidents in both clinical and supervisory roles
- Serve as a liaison between field staff and administration
- Promote a positive, professional, and accountable workplace culture
Minimum Qualifications
- Massachusetts Paramedic certification and licensure
- Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible EMS experience
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong understanding of EMS operations, regulations, and clinical standards
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills
