We are looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented Permit Coordinator to join our team and help keep projects moving efficiently from sale to installation.
This is an in-house position that works closely with our sales, design, project management, and production teams.
Position Summary
The Permit Coordinator is responsible for obtaining permits and approvals for commercial signage projects throughout South Carolina and surrounding states. This position requires excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to communicate professionally with municipalities, planning departments, and government agencies.
The ideal candidate enjoys research, problem-solving, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit commercial sign permit applications to municipalities and government agencies throughout South Carolina and neighboring states, including North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee.
- Obtain business licenses, contractor registrations, and other required municipal approvals.
- Research municipal sign ordinances, zoning regulations, and permitting requirements.
- Research and obtain SCDOT and state DOT right-of-way information as required for permit applications.
- Communicate with planning, zoning, permitting, and engineering departments regarding project approvals.
- Track permit status and follow up to ensure timely approvals.
- Attend occasional daytime or evening planning, zoning, or variance meetings when required.
- Coordinate with sales, design, project management, installers, and customers throughout the permitting process.
- Maintain accurate permit records and project documentation.
- Request revisions or additional information when required by permitting authorities.
- Stay current on changes to municipal sign codes and permitting requirements.
- Assist with additional administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in permitting, construction administration, project coordination, engineering, architecture, signage, or municipal government is preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to research and interpret zoning ordinances, municipal codes, and permitting requirements.
- Comfortable communicating with government agencies by phone and email.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines.
- Experience in the commercial sign industry is a plus but not required.
- Training will be provided on our permitting process and industry-specific requirements.

Schedule
- Part-time (less than 30 hours per week)
- Monday-Friday
- Approximately 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch
- Occasional evening meetings may be required for planning or zoning board approvals
