About the Role
As a Business Development Research Intern in our 8-12 week program, you will act as a strategic “prospector,” identifying high-potential companies and delivering actionable insights to our sales team. This is a non-sales role focused on research and pipeline development – not outreach or closing deals. It is ideal for someone who enjoys uncovering insights, analyzing markets, and building high-quality prospect lists that fuel sales growth.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Focus Areas
- Market & Geographic Research: Identify target companies within key regions, industries, and supply chain networks aligned with our services
- Industry Targeting: Focus on sectors including 3PL, grocery, food production, and warehouse/distribution operations
- Warehouse & Facility Mapping: Identify logistics hubs, warehouses, and distribution centers with potential service needs
- Prospect Profiling: Build detailed company profiles including size, key contacts, operational footprint, and potential fit
Secondary Focus Areas
- Industry Trend Analysis: Monitor market trends and summarize insights that signal demand for our services
- Competitor Intelligence: Track competitor activity, partnerships, and expansions to uncover new opportunities
Core Responsibilities
- Conduct research using tools such as LinkedIn, ZoomInfo, industry reports, and public databases
- Identify and qualify potential clients and maintain accurate records in CRM (HubSpot)
- Build and manage a structured database of prospect information
- Deliver high-quality, actionable prospect profiles to sales representatives
- Identify trends, patterns, and insights to support strategic decision-making
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to refine targeting criteria
Qualifications
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into clear, concise insights
- Familiarity with HubSpot, Excel, Google Sheets, and online research tools preferred
- Interest in business development, sales operations, or market research
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
