Sargent is seeking an experienced Project Executive to join our New England operations team based in Fremont, New Hampshire.
As a 100% employee-owned heavy civil construction company, Sargent has spent nearly a century building infrastructure and developing people. Our Project Executives play a critical role in that mission—providing leadership and oversight from preconstruction through final closeout while building strong relationships with customers, project partners, and our employee-owners in the field.
This is an opportunity for an experienced construction leader who understands the details of heavy civil work but can also step back and see the bigger picture: people, planning, financial performance, client relationships, and successful project execution.
As a Project Executive, you will provide overall leadership and technical management for assigned construction projects, partnering closely with project managers, superintendents, estimators, engineers, owners, and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
-
Serve as a primary client contact and build strong, long-term relationships with owners, representatives, and business partners.
-
Provide leadership and oversight for projects from preconstruction and handoff through final completion and closeout.
-
Review contracts, plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, estimates, bids, and other project documents to understand scope, risk, and resource requirements.
-
Partner with project superintendents and project teams to establish responsibilities, execution strategies, schedules, and project priorities.
-
Participate in Pre-Construction, Hand-Off, Job Strategy, and Exit Strategy meetings.
-
Oversee development and maintenance of project schedules, submittal logs, schedules of values, pay requisitions, budgets, forecasts, and other key project controls.
-
Ensure permits, bonds, insurance, subcontract agreements, and other contractual requirements are completed as needed.
-
Work with project teams to anticipate labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and other resource needs, including identification of long-lead items.
-
Monitor job costs, project budgets, cash flow, forecasts, and overall financial performance, proactively addressing potential issues.
-
Lead or participate in regular owner and project progress meetings, ensuring milestones, challenges, and action items are clearly communicated.
-
Oversee scope changes and change orders, including documentation, pricing, negotiation, and approval.
-
Support project teams in resolving technical, contractual, operational, and customer-related challenges.
-
Promote Sargent's commitment to safety and ensure projects are executed in accordance with company and contractual requirements.
-
Oversee substantial completion, punch list management, final payment, retention, lien waivers, as-built documentation, and project closeout.
-
Participate in post-job reviews to capture lessons learned and identify opportunities to continuously improve future project performance.
-
Develop and mentor project team members while helping create a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.
-
High School Diploma or GED required.
-
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent technical training and relevant experience will also be considered.
-
Significant experience in heavy civil construction, including construction supervision and project management.
-
Demonstrated experience successfully leading complex construction projects and project teams.
-
Strong knowledge of construction methods, equipment, technology, contracts, scheduling, estimating, engineering, negotiations, cost controls, and safety requirements.
-
Strong financial and commercial understanding, including budgeting, forecasting, change management, and job cost analysis.
-
Proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, customers, subcontractors, and project partners.
-
Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management technology.
-
OSHA 30-hour training.
-
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
