Compensation
Salary Range: $30.00 - $35.00 hourly
Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, specialized skills, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.

About the Opportunity
The primary responsibility of the Professional Lead Coder is to code CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, Modifiers, Units based on medical record documentation in a remote environment. Additional duties under the direct supervision of the Professional Coding Supervisor and/or Manager will include client project oversight, tracking and monitoring of coding volumes and coder assignments, and performing quality assurance reviews of other coders on the team.

What You’ll Do
-
Abstract or verify coding for all assigned accounts using medical record documentation. Codes include E/M, CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, units.

Pend and query accounts per client and Company expectations.

Accurately verify or enter data into client software and/or Excel reports.

Evaluate the overall quality of physician documentation for quality improvement measures.

Perform accurate coding using applicable coding guidelines and client protocols.

Communicate with management regarding projects, tasks, and assignments as needed
-
Accurately track completed and pending accounts using client software and/or Excel trackers.
-
Proven ability to research and apply coding guidelines and regulatory requirements.
-
Work high level/problem WQ’s and accounts assigned.

Communicate with coding team to assist with training, questions, dashboards, work volumes, project updates and due dates.

Communicate with client as needed and/or requested by the Supervisor/Manager

Assist with various tracking standards throughout the department

Comply with policies regarding the use and disclosure of protected health information which include accessing and using protected health information only to the extent necessary to fulfill the above-mentioned responsibilities.

Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and standards related to health information and coding principles.

Other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
-
Must have one of the following current credentials from AAPC or AHIMA; CPC or CCS-P
-
Minimum of 5–7 years of experience professional fee coding of CPT, E/M, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes.

Additional specialty coding credentials highly recommended.

Advanced knowledge of surgical and medical specialty coding (as assigned).

Extensive knowledge of medical terminology.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Experience with multiple Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.

High School Diploma or GED required.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.
