Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dependable Heavy Forklift Operator to join our dynamic warehouse team. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient movement, loading, and unloading of materials within our distribution center. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in operating various types of heavy equipment such as Forklifts, while adhering strictly to safety standards and warehouse protocols. Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy equipment such as reach trucks, forklifts, and transport goods safely within the warehouse
- Perform routine inspections and basic repairs on equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety compliance
- Manage inventory movement using warehouse management systems (WMS) and barcode scanning technology for logistics accuracy
- Assist with order picking, shipping, and receiving processes to meet daily distribution targets
- Maintain accurate records of materials handled, utilizing inventory management tools and manual logs
- Follow strict forklift safety protocols in accordance with OSHA standards to prevent accidents or injuries
- Support warehouse supervisors in implementing efficient warehouse distribution strategies
- Conduct manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting while adhering to ergonomic safety practices
- Collaborate with team members to optimize warehouse operations and improve workflow efficiency
Requirements:
- Proven experience operating heavy material handling equipment such as reach trucks, forklifts (including lift trucks and Hi-Lo), clamp trucks, and pallet jacks
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), barcode scanning for logistics, and inventory control procedures
- Familiarity with shipping & receiving processes, order picking techniques, and materials handling best practices
- Understanding of OSHA regulations and forklift safety standards in production environments
- Ability to perform basic math calculations related to weights, measurements, and inventory counts
- Experience with equipment repair or troubleshooting is a plus
- Prior warehouse experience with a focus on heavy lifting and manual handling tasks
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Valid certification for forklift operation; additional certifications for reach truck or clamp truck operation are desirable
