Position: Youth and Family Specialist
Reports to: Program Manager
Hours: Full-Time Monday - Friday 10 am – 6:30 pm
Salary Range: $21.30 - $23.00 Per Hour
Benefits: Paid time off (Sick, and Vacation Leave), Paid holiday after the probation period
About the Organization: The Somali Family Safety Task Force (SFSTF) is a nonprofit community-based organization (CBO) located in the New Holly neighborhood in Seattle, WA that serves refugee and immigrant women and their families. We pride ourselves on being an organization by-and-for the community. Our mission is to empower immigrant and refugee women and their families by providing culturally appropriate services that embody the core values of our community.
Overview of the Position: The Youth and Family Specialist will play a key role in engaging youth, seniors, and their families through outreach, community building, and culturally responsive programming. This position coordinates intergenerational activities, develops curriculum to strengthen family relationships, and supports data collection for reporting and evaluation. The ideal candidate is passionate about community service, youth empowerment, and building bridges between generations
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Outreach
● Conduct outreach with youth, families, and seniors to promote participation in SFSTF programs and community events.
● Build and maintain relationships with community members, schools, faith institutions, and partner organizations.
● Represent SFSTF at outreach events and community gatherings to strengthen partnerships and increase visibility.
● Create and distribute outreach materials to promote program opportunities.
Program Coordination
● Coordinate intergenerational programs, youth workshops, and family engagement events.
● Support planning, scheduling, and logistics for community activities and special events.
● Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and partners to ensure smooth implementation and alignment with program goals
● Assist with participant recruitment, registration, and communication.
Curriculum Development
● Develop and facilitate engaging, culturally responsive curriculum and activities that foster leadership, connection, and intergenerational understanding.
● Adapt program content to meet the developmental and cultural needs of youth and seniors.
● Incorporate community feedback and participant input into program design and improvement.
Data Tracking & Reporting
● Track attendance, participation, and engagement outcomes.
● Collect and maintain accurate data for grant and funder reporting.
● Assist with the preparation of narrative and statistical reports demonstrating program impact.
Qualifications
● 2+ years of experience in youth development, family engagement, or community outreach.
● Experience working with immigrant/refugee communities required
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across generations.
● Ability to plan, organize, and facilitate workshops and events.
● Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills for data tracking and reporting.
