PHASE Associates has an immediate opportunity for an entry-level Industrial Hygienist in Livingston, New Jersey. This position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional with 1-3 years of experience who is interested in developing hands-on industrial hygiene, environmental health and safety, and consulting experience under the guidance of experienced IH and safety professionals.
This position offers hands-on field experience, exposure to a wide variety of client settings and projects, and mentorship from seasoned industrial hygiene and safety professionals. The successful candidate will build practical technical skills in sampling, inspections, compliance support, technical reporting, and client communication while contributing to important environmental health and safety solutions.
Job Responsibilities:
· Assist with inspections, audits, investigations, and surveys to support compliance with federal, state, and local safety and industrial hygiene regulations.
· Prepare clear, accurate field notes, sampling documentation, photographs, data summaries, and technical reports for review and delivery to the appropriate client point of contact.
· Assist with identifying safety and health compliance deficiencies and developing practical corrective action recommendations.
· Support the development and update of client written procedures, policies, training materials, and environmental health and safety programs.
· Conduct respirator fit testing using qualitative or quantitative fit test methods.
· Conduct or assist with airborne exposure monitoring, noise monitoring, indoor air quality assessments, mold investigations, respirator fit testing, and other field evaluations using industrial hygiene sampling equipment and established protocols.
· Conduct mold investigations and evaluations.
· Conduct Indoor Air Quality assessments.
· Perform other industrial hygiene, environmental health and safety, and consulting support responsibilities as assigned based on project needs.
Required Experience and Skills:
· 1-3 years of experience in industrial hygiene, environmental health and safety, indoor air quality, environmental consulting, laboratory work, field sampling, or related technical work; internship, co-op, or academic project experience may be considered.
· Preferred certifications include 40-hour HAZWOPER, 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher, USEPA/AHERA asbestos training, respirator fit testing experience, and familiarity with environmental or industrial hygiene sampling methods.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
· Ability to write clear technical reports, organize field observations, summarize sampling data, and communicate findings in a professional manner.
· Attention to detail, and able to work under periodic time constraints.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Manages time effectively.
· Ability or willingness to learn how to calibrate, operate, and maintain industrial hygiene instruments and sampling equipment, including pumps, sound level meters, direct-reading instruments, and related field equipment.
· Must have a valid driver's license with a reliable car because the role involves client-site travel, field conditions, and occasional schedule flexibility.
· Must be a U.S. citizen. International sponsorship is not available for this position.
· Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, as required for applicable client or project assignments.
Education Minimum Requirement:
· Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
Other Requirements:
Physical and work-environment requirements may include working at client sites, walking or standing for extended periods, climbing stairs or ladders when required, wearing personal protective equipment, carrying field equipment, and working in indoor and outdoor environments depending on project conditions.
