Job Title: Director of Family Ministries
Supervisor: Lead Pastor
Job Description: The Director of Family Ministries is a dynamic, faith-filled leader who will oversee and grow the ministries of children, youth, and families at the First United Methodist Church of Plant City. This person will create a welcoming, engaging, and spiritually nurturing environment for families, guiding children and youth to develop a personal and lasting faith in Jesus Christ. This is a part-time position designed to support both existing programming and intentional growth in family ministries.
Key Responsibilities:
Ministry Leadership and Program Oversight
- Provide leadership and coordination for children’s and youth ministries.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate faith formation opportunities.
- Ensure all programming aligns with United Methodist theology, values, and Safe Sanctuaries policies.
Children’s Ministries
- Oversee Sunday School for children, including curriculum selection, scheduling, and volunteer coordination.
- Plan and direct Vacation Bible School, including curriculum, programming, volunteer recruitment, training, and supervision.
- Create engaging intergenerational opportunities (e.g., family events, holiday programs).
- Support additional children’s ministry events and seasonal programs as appropriate.
Youth Ministries
- Lead and organize weekly youth gatherings and seasonal events.
- Plan and facilitate meaningful summer youth activities (e.g., mission trips, retreats, service days).
- Teach or coordinate Youth Sunday School and Confirmation classes.
- Develop mentoring relationships with students and foster connections with parents.
Family Ministry
- Support and equip parents in their role as the primary spiritual influence.
- Plan occasional family-based discipleship and fellowship opportunities.
- Maintain consistent communication with parents, providing encouragement and resources.
Volunteer Recruitment and Support
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers for children’s and youth ministries.
- Maintain regular communication with volunteers and provide ongoing guidance.
- Ensure compliance with Safe Sanctuaries policies and procedures.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Oversee the Bruton and Cornelius scholarship application process.
- Maintain calendars, records, and communication related to family ministries.
- Work within established budgets and assist with ministry planning as needed.
Qualifications:
- A vibrant and growing Christian faith.
- A passion for working with children, youth, and families.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Experience leading youth/children’s ministry in a church setting (volunteer or professional).
- Ability to recruit and work alongside volunteers with grace and clarity.
- Strong communication and relational skills with all ages.
- Familiarity with United Methodist theology and ministry practices is preferred.
- Availability for Sunday mornings, occasional evenings, and special events
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
